L Surface &Subsurface Contamination Report Page 5
Sandhu Property
Project No. 522.1
March 9, 2006
r
L 1. If it is not to be used, a C-57 licensed water well contractor should
properly abandon the idle water production well on the Property. For
purposes of planning possible future wells, it would be useful for the
`- owner of the Property to request a copy of construction details and
driller's logs for the well that may be on file with the State Department of
Water Resources.
2. Given the intended residential use of the Property, soil samples should be
collected and tested for the presences of residual chlorinated pesticides
and herbicides to assure that there will be no health risk to future
residents. We suggest that two or thee four-point composite samples
L should be adequate for this purpose. This work can be completed for an
estimated cost of $1,500 to $1,800.
r. 3. Any future water production wells, especially in the southern part of the
Property, should be completed in an aquifer well below the contamination
known to exist in the shallow aquifer under the south part of the
6- Property. Ideally, wells should be completed below the Corcoran Clay, but
there may be other, shallower impermeable layers that would serve to
L prevent contact of contaminated shallow water with potable water. In lieu
of a deeper well completion, it may be possible to use a reverse osmosis
filtration system to improve shallow water by removing nitrates and other
L contaminants. Any new water production wells should be thoroughly
tested to assure the water meets applicable standards for potability.
L
L
L
L
L
L2937 Veneman Ave.,#B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
