`. N./
V
November 27, 2006
NOA Project Number: E06115A
5.0 SOIL PROFILE AND GEOLOGIC INFORMATION
The Site is depicted on the USGS Geologic Map of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Quadrangle(1991) as
i within Quaternary Alluvial Supratidal Flood Plain Deposits (Plate 7). These map units represent
him alluvial flood plain deposits, natural levee deposits and flood basin deposits.
The surface and near surface soils located at Site are reported by the San Joaquin County Soil Sumey to
be composed of Kingile muck,Ryde clay loam and Valdez silt, all 0 to 2 percent slopes (Plate 8)
(USDA, 1992). Table 3 presents some selected properties of these soils:
Table 3.
Selected Soil Properties of the Surrounding Area
San Joaquin County Soil Survey Report.
Soil Name Depth Unified Soil Classification Salinity Soil Perme- Septic tank
and Map (in) mmhos/cm Reaction ability absorption
Symbol pH (in/hr) fields
' hingile 0-17 Muck;PT <2 4.5-6.5 6.0-20 Severe:
muck, 07-61 Silty clay loam,clay,silty day; <2 5.6-7.8 .06-.2 subsides,
partially ML,CL wetness,
drained,0- perks slowly
2%slopes,
190
Ryde clay 0-24: Clay loam;CL,ML <2 5.1 -7.3 0.2-0.6 Severe:
loam, 24-63: Stratified muck to silty clay <2 6.1 -7.8 0.6-2.0 wetness.
partially loam;OL,OH
drained
0-2%
slopes,230.
Valdez silt 0-14 Silt loam;ML <2 5.6-7.3 .6-2.0 Severe:
loam, 14-40 Silt loam,silty day loam;CL, <2 6.0-7.3 .2-.6 Excess
organic ML humus
_ substratum, 40-50 Mucky silty day loam,mucky silt <2 6.1-7.3 2.0-6.0
partially loam;OL,ML
drained,0- 50-60 Muck,mucky peat;PT <4 5.6-7.3 6.0-20
2%slopes,
261
Note: The table descriptions do not necessarily reflect site-specific soil properties.
t,. 5.1 Soil Boring Locations
Eleven soil borings were advanced on the Site. One boring was drilled to approximately six feet and /
Lthe others were between six inches and three and a half feet. The soil borings were used later for 5'l
percolation test holes;the locations of the borings are indicated in Plate 1.
i
7
r
L
