Hazelton Ave.
Stockton, CA 95205
This is a letter supporting the Bridgeport RV Paris project, application #PA-0500531.
The construction and development of the Bridgeport RV Park would have a significant impact on business
growth and development of Lodi Truck and RV Center. We are currently located on the North-West corner of
State highway 99 and Woodbridge Rd.
Lodi Truck Center was formed in July of 1996 under the sole proprietorship name of Pacific Coast Truck Repair.
In September, 2001, we had the opportunity to move to the current location. January 1, 2002, the name was
changed to Lodi Truck Center and the current corporation was formed. The location was seized because of its
high visibility from Highway 99, and potential future growth. Like most businesses in California, Lodi Truck
Center has experienced rising costs over the last couple of years. These rising costs have forced us to take a
close look at our customer base and future growth. Up to the summer of 2004,we have relied on most of our
business from trucking companies, owner/,operators, and other businesses that use commercial-trucks in their
daily operations. This industry has also experienced significant fuel and insurance cost increases over the past
couple of years. These increases have forced owner/operators out of business and many companies to make
cutbacks in truck operating costs. Because of this, the truck industry is not as healthy as in years past.
Despite these market changes we have experienced strong steady growth over the past years and have
established a solid core group of personnel that can manage the growth proposed.
In an effort to maintain a healthy customer base, we decided in early 2004, to diversify into the RV market. This
market is very strong and has a huge demand for a facility that provides professional maintenance and repairs
for RV's. We have already established a franchise dealership with Workhorse Custom Chassis [a General
Motors Division). Workhorse Custom Chassis builds chassis for Class A, C, and diesel pusher motor homes.
This dealership agreement was established in November of 2003 and has increased our revenue in warranty
labor sales. It has also exposed us to customers that travel from Modesto, Stockton, Sacramento, Foothills and
the East Bay. Once they experience our superior customer service they consistently return for regular
maintenance and repairs. We are also currently pursuing opportunities to establish dealerships with other
chassis and coach manufacturers. Several manufacturers have shown serious interest in making us an
authorized warranty service center, but are reluctant because of the current state of our facility. These
manufacturers' clients pay anywhere from $100,000-$700,000 for their coaches, and expect a nice clean
modern facility.
We feel that growing into this market will strengthen our business significantly and allow us to continue the
growth we have experienced in the past but in a market that offers more opportunities. We are currently
pursuing the expansion and construction of a new 10,000 square foot shop, 2500 square foot parts showroom
and the offices for the support staff proposed. This building project alone will attract many new customers just
due to the exposure seen from Highway 99. It will also attract a higher level of professional technicians and
personnel. The new facility will offer us more opportunities from coach and chassis manufacturers as well as
future growth in the sales of RVs.
[continued]
