Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
RE: Use Permit Application #PA-0500531 (UP)
Dear Ms. Allen:
On behalf of parents of students at Mokelumne River School, we
have enclosed a petition signed by 98 parents, grandparents and
teachers who oppose the proposed recreational campground and
vehicle park adjacent to Mokelumne River School at the corner of
Woodbridge Road and the Highway 99 Frontage Road.
Of particular concern are the transient nature of R.V. parks and
recreational campgrounds, and the potential of sexual predators
being in such close proximity to Mokelumne River School. In
addition, although the park plans to be a "short-term stay" park, the
duration of stays often blurs between short and long term in such
facilities. Not only is the length of stay difficult to monitor, but it is
documented that as the length of stay increases, so does the
potential for criminal activity_
Other issues of potential concern are noise, and the impact of R.V.
traffic at certain times of the day. In short, we do not believe the
proposed project is complimentary to providing a safe and secure
environment within reasonable distance of a Kindergarten through
eighth grade school.
