1
Production Well#3 is for back-up process water and Well #4 is for primary process water. It is
unknown if additional industrial wells will be drilled.
V
The EHD Unit 11 Program Coordinator has determined the scheduled chemistry on the three
referenced wells is sufficient analyses of nitrate and the agrichemical DBCP for these Studies. The
following Table summarizes the analytical test results for nitrate and DBCP of these three wells,
with the MCL for nitrate at 45 mg/L and 0.2 gg/L for DBCP. The lab results are located in
Appendix F.
TABLE 3
DATE OF SAMPLE WELL No. 1 WELL No.3 WELL No.4
January 4, 2007 0.01 gg/1 DBCP 0.11 µg/L DBCP 0.1Opg/L DBCP
January 9,2008 1.3 mg/L Nitrate 3.9 mg/L Nitrate 3.9 mg/L Nitrate
June 4,2008 0.02 µg/L DBCP 0.09 µG/L DBCP 0.09 µGNI.DBCP
tl E. SURFACE WATER INFORMATION
Percolating rainwater may theoretically provide a water table dilution effect to percolating
wastewater effluent depending upon the factors discussed. Dilution effects can only be truly
discerned with extensive groundwater monitoring and modeling. According to a scientific paper
authored by Shaw and Turyk(1994), reduction of nitrate concentrations in groundwater can occur
primarily through dispersion, by percolating rainwater, or a cleaner water source including effluent
water recharge.
Climatic Data: Rainfall versus Evapotranspiration
NLS§3.2. It is generally and scientifically accepted that when precipitation exceeds evapotrans-
piration(Eto), deep percolation of surface rainwater may occur. Evapotranspiration refers to water
evaporation that takes place both at the soil surface and transpiration by plants.
The following Table illustrates rainfall and evapotranspiration for the Stockton area. Precipitation
data was obtained from the Soil Survey of San Joaquin County. The conservative"2 years in 10"
data was used and not the "average rainfall' data. Evapotranspiration data was obtained from the
California Irrigation Management Information System(CIMIS):
6
Chesney Consulting
