E07031A
3.3.2 Agricultural Contribution
No agricultural contribution was considered for this site.
3.4 Future On-Site Sources of Nitrate
` 3.4.1 Quantity and Quality ofDomestic Wastewater From Proposed Project
The following discussion is for determining the long-term waste water flow generated from the
` proposed project for the nitrate loading analysis and should not be used for septic system design
purposes. Typically, use estimates for the sizing of septic systems include a peak use factor, whereas
the numbers discussed here are based on long-term averages.
The kennel is proposed to hav o t e employees. We understand that the store s planned to
be open regular business hour six ys per week. Th ennel will be serving an avera f 30 gs.
The solid waste from the dogs will be removed man y,leaving only liquid waste whic wtffb
flushed out with a mechanized water saving,low-flow,pressure-dose system.
` The estimated sewage flow rates for use categories are available from a number of references. The
uses presented below were guided by the San Joaquin County On-Site Wlastewater Disposal Standards j
(2003),Crites and Tchobanoglous (1998),and EPA (1980). No specific category is indicated for
` dogs in a kennel. Therefore, because of the mechanized water-saver, pressure dos s we
estimate an average of one gallon per day for each dog. Tdi
he references incate t 3 ons for
each employee is typical for an office worker (Crites and Tchobanoglous, 1998).
6. The following tables presents the septic waste water uses associated with the Site. The rates
presented from the references provide general guidance but do not always reflect a thatch in usage.
` Careful examination, professional judgement, and experience are necessary to select a reasonable
flow rate estimate. The flow rates selected for the uses associated with this project are presented
next
Table 1.
Typical Quantity of Effluent
Category Total People/Dogs Average Quantity per Average Daily Flow
per Day Person/dog Per Parcel
Commercial 3 people 13 gal/day/employee 3 employees x 13 gpd
Commercial 30 dogs 1 gal/day/dog 30 dogs x 1 gal 30
TOTAL 6/7' '(30 +39069
Note —gpd is gallons per day.
4
