In order to reduce the risk of
heaving, we recommend that before placing concrete, rhe clayey soils.beneath the concrete slabs.
f be moisture conditioned:
1
f • To a depth of approximately 18 inches
• To a minimum moisture content of at least 3 percent over optimum
Moisture Testing Ii
Moister-_ tests should be taken prior to placement of the: moisture vapor barrier and/or
reinforcing steel to confirm that the elevated moisture content has been achieved.
We stress that weather conditions at the time of moisture conditioning will determine the amount
of time allowed between moisture conditioning and slab placement. Some of these conditions
are:
• Temperature
• Wind
• Humidity
{ KLEf i*t J829 t4ASat'Rf?rttO54rJPF-Stockton, CA 95205 (209) 948-1345 ;i
