KLE1NFELDER
EXPECT MORE
Purge water will be placed into 5-gallon buckets and then poured onto the ground some
distance from the well, but far enough away to not drain near the well box/opening.
After collection, the groundwater samples will be labeled, logged on a chain-of-custody
(COC) form and immediately stored in an iced cooler. The samples will be transported
under COC control in a chilled ice chest directly to Kleinfelders office to be stored in a
refrigerator within a locked room. The samples will be relinquished to laboratory
personnel in a chilled ice chest and delivered under COC control to a State-certified
analytical laboratory for the requested chemical analyses. The samples will be
analyzed on a standard 2-week turn-around-time (TAT).
A.2 GROUNDWATER ANALYSES
OLWD has been using a local laboratory, FGL Environmental (FGL) of Stockton,
California. Groundwater samples collected from the nine monitoring wells will be
submitted for the following bulleted analyses. The following listed analyses/analytes are
followed by proposed reporting limits [or practical quatitation limits (PQLs) as
referenced by FGL], sample bottle/s and applicable preservative/s:
• Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) by EPA Method 160.1 [PQL = 40 mg/l, poly bottle -
unpreserved]
• Nitrate as Nitrogen by EPA Method 300.0 [PQL = 0.1 mg/I, poly bottle
unpreserved]
• Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN) by EPA Method 351.4 [PQL = 0.5 mg/I, poly bottle
with H2SO4 preservative]
• pH by EPA Method 150.1 [No PQL, poly bottle, unpreserved]
• Trihalomethanes by EPA Method 8260B [0.5 µg/l, VOAs with HCL preservative]
• Boron by ICP [0.1 mg/I, **metal — see bottle description below]
• Chloride by EPA Method 300.0 [1 mg/l, poly - unpreserved]
• Iron by ICP [0.05 mg/I, **metal — see bottle description below]
• Manganese by ICP [0.01 mg/l, **metal — see bottle description below]
• Sodium by ICP [1 mg/I, **metal — see bottle description below]
• Total Coliform Organisms by EPA Method 9221 B [1.1 MPN, poly bottle — NA2S204
preservative]
Annual frequency sampling for the monitoring wells will also include the following
Standard Minerals:
48093.E01/ST07R052/CJC/Iv Page A-2
©2007 Kleinfelder, Inc January 26, 2007
