Special Events Scenario
Nitrate Loading Calculation
Bokisch Vineyards
18909 & 19101 N. Atkins Rd., Lodi, CA
Although no special events are planned for the winery at this time, Mr. Bokisch
indicated that in the future he may wish to host events. He stated that a
maximum of four special events could be held per year; attendance at each
event could include up to 300 people.
A second nitrate loading estimate was prepared to address the additional waste
water flow from these potential special events:
The maximum average daily flow for the Site was estimated to be 688.3 gallons
per day (gpd). Through the use of a weighted average, the average
concentration of all the different effluent flows and concentrations was
determined to be 60.1 mg/L-N at 688.3 gallons per day. Please see the following
tables that present the information in a tabular form.
Average Daily Flow Calculation
Use Units Rate Subtotal Reduction Average Daily
Flow
Existing 3 bed 120 gallbr/day 360 gpd None 360 gallons
Residence rooms per day
Potential
Future 2 bed 240 gallons
Second rooms 120 gallbrlday 240 gpd None per da
Dwelling y
Unit
Winery
Customers 20 cost 5 gallcust 100 gpd 417 57.1 gallons
per day
(4 days)
Winery Staff 2 staff 13 gal/staff 26 gpd 417 14.8 gallons
(4 days) per day
Special 300 16.4 gallons
Events cult 5 gallcust 1,500 gpd 4/365 per da
Visitor y
Reduction factors convert calculated flow into average daily flow over a year. This needs to be taken into
account since the tasting room is only open four days per week and special events will occur only four times
per year. No reduction is used for a residence since it is continuously occupied.
Page 6-1
