City of Lodi
on some of the land used for reclamation. The operational plan for reclamation use of
domestic and industrial wastewater and sludge applications to land, due 26 August 1993,
must also take into account all nutrient loading from cattle grazing and fertilizer
applications. Caution must be exercized to prevent nutrient loading, from all sources,
in excess of crop demands, or the City will be in violation of its WDRs.
We drove out to the confluence of Dredger Cut, Bishop Cut, and White Slough. Dredger Cut
has not yet been posted as a wastewater disposal area, as required by Provision G.6 of the
WDRs. The posting is required because information collected to date indicates there is
less than 20:1 dilution in Dredger Cut, and the 30-day median total coliform limit for the
effluent is 23 MPN/100 ml . The posting must be designed to preclude water contact
recreation in Dredger Cut.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS•
I did not note any violations of WDR Order No. 93-030, as a result of the inspection, with
the exception that the City has not yet posted Dredger Cut as a wastewater disposal area.
This is in violation of Provision G.6. The City must act immediately to post the area,
the intent of which must be to preclude water contact recreation in Dredger Cut.
PATRICIA LEARY
Associate Engineer
PHL:pl
