We estimated the cubic
yardage of tires to be a whole count of 200-300 tires, depending on the ratio of motorcycle tires to car tires. The
last bin picked up (3/21/07) had an accompanying invoice from Tracy-Delta Disposal that listed 200- Motorcycle
tires, 6- Auto tires, and 6-Truck tires for one full 20 yard bin noted on CTL#3231594. The majority were,
however, dumped illegally within the park by the public and collected by rangers as routine maintenance. I spoke
to the new Sector Supervisor, Joe Ramos, regarding the issue of illegal dumping and he will research paths of
public outreach within the park and citing violators.
Keith, you wanted to look into the vendor who is supplying the public with new tires. The vendor at Carnegie
State Vehicle Recreation Area is Moto Mart, run by Tony Shipman (phone# 925 455-1318). He runs a
concession shack with parts and equipment, including new motocross tires, batteries, oil, and other things. The
shack does not provide service. Currently there is no proper method of disposal available to the public for
diposing of tires (or batteries and waste oil...). Joe Ramos was going to look into options to control waste stream
with the help of the vendor. The park maintenance team have been disposing of all illegally dumped special
wastes properly.
No violations were cited. Thanks for all the help and support.
