We agree with the proposal for additional soil borings in <br /> order to establish concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons remaining in the <br /> native soils at the site. The locations of these borings should address the <br /> concerns presented in the attached memo. As we stated in our earlier letter, <br /> the vertical extent of soil contamination left in place after excavation, has <br /> not been adequately defined and ground water contamination has not been <br /> determined. Therefore more investigation is warranted. <br /> Complete horizontal and vertical definition of the fuel products must be <br /> defined at this site before a "no further action" status can be assigned to <br /> this cleanup. Either additional remediation will be required to reduce <br /> remaining diesel concentrations to below 50 ppm or evaluation by the <br /> Designated Level Methodology for Waste Classification and Cleanup <br /> Determination by Jon Marshack, updated June 1989, will need to be performed. <br /> If you or your consultants have any further questions regarding the objectives <br /> or rationale for future work at the site please call me at (916) 361-5666. <br /> CORI CONDON <br /> Assoc.
