t)ESCRIPTION OF 4ORK
shallow groundwater
pp 30 and 31 October 1986. Aw?`•c drilled three
inch hollow sten auger at the lore-
onitarin$ wells with a ten
tions ahown on Figure 2. The borings were logged using a
watinnous caring device. Geologic and completion logs are
included as Appendix I. Groundwater was encountered at 9.5 .5
-11
feet below ground surface (BGS). The ten inch diameter borings
21.5-23.5 feet BGS. The
were terminated in moist, silty clay at
wells were constructed with 15 feet of 0_01 slot four inch diam-
etev pVc screen, approximately ten feet of which was placed
below the water table. A six inch screw-on bottom cap was in-
stalled at the bottom of the screen. Monterey 1-20 sand was
poured into the annulus of the boring, creating a filter pack
from the bottom of the boring to one to two feet above the
screened section. One and one-half to three feet of bentonite
pellets were placed above the filter pack and hydrated. Heat
cement grout was poured into the annulus which was then filled to
ground surface. The wells were completed by placing an eight
inch diameter locking steel casing into the .ret grout.
The well locations and elevations were surveyed by Nolte and
Associates on S November 1986.
On 7 November 1986, all wells were developed by surge block and
pumping. All wells were checked for true, floating product with
a clean bailer. No free product was found, After development
and purging, water samples were taken with a stainless steel
2
