-
.v
sr
- I INTRODUCTION
Del Monte plans to conduct a subsurface investigation at a former underground tank
site, known as the East Miner Avenue site, located at Del Monte's Plant 33 in
Stockton, California. The East Miner site consists of two small underground tanks
which formerly contained gasoline and diesel fuel. The gasoline tank was removed in
1985; nothing is known about the diesel fuel tank, and it may not exist.
The work plan and investigation will be conducted in accordance with the following two
guidance documents: Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations for Preliminary
Evaluation and Investigation of Underground Tank Sites, and the Leaking
Underground Fuel Tank (LOFT) Field Manual.
1.1 STATEMENT OF SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work will address the lateral and vertical extent of soil contamination and
an evaluation of the groundwater quality in the vicinity of a former buried 500-gallon
gasoline tank and in the vicinity of a suspected 500-gallon diesel fuel tank.
1.2 OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this program are to.-
0
o:• Attempt to locate a buried diesel fuel tank identified on a 1983 plant
r map.
• Identify the lateral and vertical extent of soil contamination, if any, in the
vicinity of the diesel tank and in the vicinity of the former 500-gallon
gasoline tank.
• Test for the presence of petroleum hydrocarbons in the shallow
groundwater beneath each tank site.
u Recommend a plan for remedial action, if needed.
sF03160AWPOOLM 1-1
