. Preliminary Site Assessment Work Plan
LODI AIRPORT
23987 North Highway 99, Acampo, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
At the request of Mr Robert Kupka, Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc (AGE) has prepared the
enclosed Preliminary Site Assessment Work Plan for the Lodi Airport site located at 23987 North
Highway 99, Acampo, California The location of the site is illustrated on Figure 1 and a plan of the
site is illustrated on Figure 2
This Work Plan is proposed to assess the vertical and lateral extent of petroleum
hydrocarbon-impacted soil and/or ground water at the former UST area and is prepared as required
by the San Joaquin County Public Health Services - Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD)
The proposed investigation is directed by the PHS-EHD in letters dated 18 November 1999 and 03
February 2000
2.0. BACKGROUND
The site is occupied by Lodi Airport, a private airport facility for agricultural and recreational flying
Several airplane hangers, maintenance facilities, storage facilities, one office structure and a
restaurant are located on the property Most of the site is paved with asphalt, however, some areas
of dirt and grassy landscaping are located near the former UST area The site presently utilizes two
domestic wells
On 19 March 1999, as directed by PHS-EHD personnel, AGE collected one domestic water well
sample identified as DW-1 from the domestic well directly north of the former UST area No target
analytes were detected in the sample above the method reporting limits
On 18 June 1999, AGE decontaminated and removed the product piping and advanced angled soil
probe borings and collected soil samples prior to the UST abandonment and product piping removal
Based on information collected from the 18 June 1999 work, Mr Robert Kupka (property owner)
made the decision to have the USTs removed rather than abandon in place
2 1 UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL
On 09 July 1999, two 4,000-gallon aviation fuel USTs and one 5,000-gallon aviation fuel UST were
removed from the site The USTs were located between three buildings, the office, a storage building
and a cafe building Figure 2 shows the pre-removal UST locations
Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as aviation gas (TPH-av) and benzene, toluene, ethyl
benzene and xylenes (BTEX) compounds were detected in soil samples collected from soil probe
Advanced GeoEnvironmcntal,Inc
