0/LDC ANNUAL INSPECTION -3- 9 October 1990
* Increased detection limit due to dilution. Sample matrix interfered with analyte
quantitation when analyzed undiluted
The laboratory results of the samples collected by the RSI are as follows:
DI-WET
Quadrant Total Chromium Chromium VI Nickel**
E 28 <5 0.1
J 12 <5 0.4
Concentrations in mg/kg
** Concentration in mg/l
INSPECTION SUMMARY
The 0/LDC site background levels for total and hexavalent chromium presented in the HAR
were 17 mg/kg and 0 mg/kg, respectively. RSI's lab reported total chromium above
background in the sample collected from quadrant E. However, our lab reported chromium
below background in both quadrants. The concentrations of total chromium in the split
samples collected during this inspection varied between the two labs. Hexavalent
chromium was not present above detection limits in any of the samples. The sample
results demonstrate that concentrations of chromium and nickel in soils remaining in
quadrants E and J should not pose a significant threat to water quality.
AN MCCU
ater Resource Control Engineer
JEM:jm
Attachments
