STATE OF CALIFORNIA y GEORGE DEIINME3IAN, Governor
CALIFORNIA REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL BOARD—
CENTRAL VALLEY REGION
3443 ROUTIER ROAD, SUITE A
SACRAMENTO, CA 95827-3098 1OF
9 October 1990
Mr. Charles Poole
Dallas Corporation
P.O. Box 809046
Dallas, TX 75380-9046
SURFACE IMPOUNDMENT CLOSURE AT THE OVERHEAD/LODI DOOR COMPANY (O/LDC) FACILITY
IN LODI, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
We have reviewed your 1 October 1990 report regarding additional soil analysis
results for the surface impoundment excavation at your facility in Lodi and your
request to proceed with backfill operations. The report included results of
samples collected during the Board's 5 September 1990 TPCA annual inspection of
the facility, along with analyses for soluble nickel (using deionized water
extraction) . It also included the results of metals and pH analyses performed
on the proposed backfill material .
A copy our annual inspection report is enclosed for your records. The purpose
of the inspection was to collect samples from two areas in the impoundment to be
analyzed for total and hexavalent chromium. Your recent report, along with the
findings from our inspection, confirm that the levels of nickel and chromium
remaining in the impoundment will not pose a significant threat to ground water
quality after closure.
We concur that the backfill of the surface impoundment excavation should proceed
as described in the approved 30 January 1990 Final Closure Plan. The sample
results of the backfill material obtained from the Allen pit, near Galt, are
acceptable.
If you have any questions, please call Jean McCue at (916) 361-5729.
GREG K.
