' k4 KLEINFELDER
2 MONITORING WELL SAMPLING
' Plate 1 presents the location of the Overhead/Lodi Door Corporation
Facility, Lodi, California. The locations of the monitoring wells are
shown on Plate 2. Three monitoring wells (MW-1, MW-2, MW-3) were sampled
' on April 20, 1987 using an ISCO air-operated bladder pump with stainless
steel casing, silicone rubber bladder, and Teflon sample lines. Prior to
' sampling, the wells were purged and pH, electrical conductivity (EC), and
temperature of the discharged ground water were measured and recorded.
' Sampling was conducted after the field measurements stabilized.
Unfiltered and non-preserved samples were collected for analyses of major
' ions and standard parameters. A 0.45 micron polyproplyene filter was
installed on the Teflon discharge line prior to collection of preserved
samples for metals analyses. A new filter was used prior to sampling each
' monitoring well. Purge characteristics are shown on Table 1.
The ISCO pump, sampling lines, and associated equipment were rigorously
steam cleaned between wells. At least 5 gallons of hot water were pumped
through the sampling assembly before sampling each well. Samples were
collected in appropriate containers supplied by the contract laboratory.
' Select samples were preserved by adding 5 ml of concentrated nitric acid
Per quart of sample. Other samples did not require the addition of
preservatives. Samples were labeled, placed in cooled ice chests, and
delivered under chain-of-custody procedures to the laboratory. The date,
sampler's name, job number, and sample identification number were recorded
of the chain-of-custody documents are
on each sample label. Copies
attached with the lab results and may be found in Appendix A.
Quality assurance (QA) procedures included the collection of:
o One field blank (composed of distilled water)
o Three blind duplicate samples (one from each monitoring well)
' o One blind triplicate sample (from MW-1)
57-87-621 2
