' • KLEINEELDER
' 3 LABORATORY ANALYSES
Four water samples were delivered under chain—of—custody to APPL on April
' 22, 1987. These samples were analyzed via atomic absorption (AA) for
concentrations of 24 priority pollutant metals. Additionally, one blind
duplicate sample, from MW-1, was submitted on April 20, 1987 to CAL/Enseco
for analysis via ICP for concentrations of the same 24 priority pollutant
' metals. Both laboratories also conducted additional analyses which
included EC, pH, total dissolved solids (TDS) , and major ions. Table 2
presents a summary of the analytical results from both laboratories with
appropriate sample identification to reference the sample locations.
Copies of the analytical results are attached as Appendix A.
The blind duplicate sample from MW-1 and field blank sample were collected
' and submitted as quality assurance (QA) samples. Additional QA samples
were collected and retained as spare samples in the event that they may be
' needed to confirm results of the routine samples. The following
observations are noted with respect to the QA results:
' o The field blank analytical results indicate the concentrations of
constituent are less than detection limits for all of the
' priority pollutant metals analyzed except zinc. Zinc was
detected at 0.04 mg/L. Bicarbonate, total alkalinity, chloride,
' and sulfate were also measured at concentrations greater than
their respective detection limits.
' o The MW-1 results reflect similar concentrations for the majority
of constituents/parameters as measured by the two analytical
laboratories on routine versus duplicate analyses. The largest
' differences are in the reported concentrations of chromium,
mercury, selenium, thallium, and zinc.
57-87-621 4
