1
J. H. KLEINFELDER & ASSOCIATES
' 4 ANALYSIS FOR SOIL AND WATER SAMPLES
The soil samples selected for chemical and physical analyses will be
' delivered under chain-of-custody to a DOHS certified analytical
laboratory. Several analyses will be conducted to obtain information
' relevant to SI closure and development of an HAR. The following is a
summary of the analyses that will be requested.
' CLOSURE SAMPLES
Twelve routine samples (four from each boring) and three blind duplicate
samples (one from each boring) will be submitted for analysis of
concentration of selected metals. Either an Atomic Adsorption (AA)
spectrometer, or Inductively Coupled Argon Plasma (ICAP) spectrometer will
' be utilized in the analyses. The appropriate method will be use to obtain
detection limits less than or equal to 1 mg/kg (ppm) . The analytical
technique will involve nitric acid digestion except for chromium VI which
will utilize the base extraction procedure specified in EPA SW-846.
Samples will be analyzed for concentrations of chromium III, chromium VI,
copper, lead, nickel, and zinc.
HAR SAMPLES
tSamples selected from each lithologic zone from BG-4 will be submitted to
the same laboratory for analyses. The analyses to be requested are:
' EC, pH
Total Solids
' % Moisture Content
Metals by ICAP (to include: Al, Sb, Ba, Be, Cd, Ca, Cr, Co, Cu, Fe,
Pb, Mg, Mn, Mo, Ni, K, Ag, Na, Sn, V, and Zn)
' As, Hg, Se, and TL by AA
Chloride
Nitrate and Sulfate
' Sieve Analyses
51-87-413 8
