A. Neal C06-PO02-92
Special Services Supplement #1
Duncan, OK
June 25, 1992
' Title: Submitted Sample Analysis
' Prepared by: Edward F. Vinson
1
' PURPOSE
' The purpose of this project was to further characterize samples obtained on June
2 and June 11, 1992 from monitoring wells for the Overhead Door Company project in
Lodi, California. The June 2 sample was that which was analyzed as cement in a
' previous report. Three samples of set cement, marked MW-3, MW-5 and MW-6, were
received June 16.
' RESULTS
' The sample of June 2 consisted of solids and water. These were separated by
filtration and treated as two samples. The liquid, referred to below as "filtrate", was
analyzed directly by Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-
AES) for the suite of elements reported in Table I. the solids were dried, a subsample
digested in a nitric/hydrofluoric acid mixture, and then analyzed by standard methods
using the same instrument. Results are reported in Table I.
The samples marked MW-3, MW-5, and MW-6 were analyzed for total oil and
grease content by the standard method EPA 413.1; less than 10 parts per million was
' detected.
DISCUSSION
' The elements found for the "solids" sample of Table I are consistent with what one
would expect in a cement or pozzolan. Barium and chromium are very commonly found
' in those products in amounts similar to those found here. The "filtrate" samples shows
levels of dissolved materials consistent with water in equilibrium with cement.
[IMITATION OF LIABILITY: Thhreporteaaeprepared by andlatw property of Hdfiburton Swvlr;aa.a Division of Heillbreton Coo*arry',the deft rwportat
h intended for the private Intamwtion of the above named parry;atxordhngry, any uer at thin report agnea that Halgburton shall not be W"for arty lore w darrnge
regard"!of cause.Including any ad or,omftdon of Hdbunn
llo ,reaucaw ad from the of the datareportd herein;and HaWnrw m
buon MANG wandW a=preaa or baplhd
... .__ ... ..,.,... nn"retteraabitlty m onnertahe.u to the aeeuraey of the dais reported.
