We will drill or drive holes into the diesel stained areas of the
embankment in order to provide more air flow to sustain the bacteria
and to allow the carbon dioxide generated by their life cycle to escape.
2. We will provide a approximately 1 pound of fertilizer( Triple 15) to
each of the stained areas to provide neutrients.
3. We will mix and incubate the bacteria according to the manufacturers
recommendations and pump several hundred gallons into the center of
the track bed in an attempt to duplicate the run off pattern of the
original diesel spill and resaturate if necessary..
4. We will cover the stained areas with Spagsorb peat moss absorbent
and cover that with ballast.
5. We then , in August of 1998, will take new confirmation samples of
sample sites 1,3,2 and 4 and have them run for TEPH and for BTEX.
We believe that with the results that were demonstrated by the prior
applications of LK-301, that the diesel spill will have been consumed in its
entirety.
Sincerely
Tom Morgan
