Mr. Larry Williams
May 21, 1993
Page 2
The historic data (Table 1) indicate the benzene concentration in monitoring well MW-3 to be
significantly less than 1.5 ppm. For this reason, AMV anticipates that the TTO concentration
in monitoring well MW-3 during the pumping test will actually be significantly lower than 2.0
PPM-
To confirm that the quality of ground water discharged during the pumping testis similar to that
anticipated, AMV proposes to collect a sample, during the first day of the pumping test and
submit it for analysis of TPHg and volatile aromatic compounds using EPA Methods 801518020.
The day following collection of this sample, AMV will report the analytical results to your office
by telephone. Before finishing the test, AMV will collect a second sample for EPA Method
8015/8020 analysis. The laboratory reports for both samples will'be submitted to your office
within 10 days of test completion.
Aquifer characteristics and ground water quality determined during the pumping test will result
in design finalization for a remediation system planned to be installed within the next 2 months.
Although the design is not finalized, AMV believes enough information is available for
permitting of the remediation system and is sending under separate cover the necessary
application materials.
Your prompt consideration of this request would be greatly appreciated.
