11N E M PROBLEM ASSESSMENT REPORTIINT MM REMEDIAL ACTION PLAN -1$-
Former Beacon Station No. 494, 2185 East Fremont Street
Stockton, CA--AMV Project No. 19005.07
this well may not address the entire inferred plume of dissolved petroleum constituents.
s.
However, before proposing use of additional wells to recover ground water or other remedial.
' action, evaluation of the long-terns extent of the ground water capture zone is necessary. _
Analysis of ground water samples for chlorinated solvents currently indicates an off-site source
' of these constituents. During operation of monitoring well MW-3 as an extraction well,
continued sampling of selected monitoring wells for chlorinated solvents will be conducted. If
' ground water sample analyses indicate that ground water pumping creates a local ground water
flow gradient which results in migration of ground water containing these constituents onto the
subject property, ground water pumping as a remedial technique will be re-evaluated.
' 8.3 Remediation System Permit Requirements and Project Schedule
' In addition to approval of this plan by San Joaquin County, a permit from the San Joaquin Air
Pollution Control District (San Joaquin APCD) is necessary to construct and operate the vapor
extraction system. In anticipation of implementing this remedial alternative, AMV submitted
a permit application to the San Joaquin APCD in May of 1993. Receipt of authority to construct
is expected during the first part of October 1993. Start-up of the vapor extraction system could
be accomplished within 2 weeks of receipt of the authority to construct and approval of this plan.
' The discharge of ground water pumped from monitoring well MW-3 requires a permit from the
City of Stockton, Department of Municipal Utilities. In anticipation of implementing this
alternative, AMV submitted a permit application in May of 1993 and received approval in
August 1993. Start-up of the pumping system could also be accomplished within 2 weeks of
approval of this plan.
8.4 Additional Investigative Work
Prior to selection of locations for additional ground water monitoring wells to delineate the
extent of petroleum constituents in ground water, AMV recommends that at least two additional
episodes of ground water monitoring be performed. Once the direction of flow is -reliably
' established, a minimum of two additional monitoring wells will be proposed.
' rptoos.i
