- HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC. <br /> Specialists in Site Assessment Remedial Testrng[dq§i0h-cmd,0per t <br /> r- <br /> 35 <br /> July 19, 1995 <br /> Mr Kenneth Earnest <br /> Ultramar, Inc <br /> 525 W Third Street <br /> Hanford, CA 93230 <br /> Subject Second Quarter 1995 Remediation Status Report <br /> Former Beacon Station No 494 <br /> 2185 East Fremont Street, Stockton, California <br /> Mr Earnest <br /> Horizon Environmental Inc (Horizon) has prepared this Quarterly Remediation Status Report <br /> which presents the results of the 1995 second Quarter remediation ,system monitoring and <br /> sampling for the above-referenced site (Figure 1) During this period the systems operating at <br /> the site included a vapor extraction system(VES)and a groundwater treatment system (GWTS) <br /> The VES is operating under San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District <br /> (SJVUAPCD) Permit To Operate No N-116-2-1 The GWTS is operating under a City of <br /> Stockton Wastewater Discharge Permit dated August 21, 1993 <br /> The VES consists of vapor wells and probes, 4 monitoring wells, a 10 horsepower blower, and <br /> a carbon adsorption system Wells are manifolded together with PVC piping before connection <br /> to the blower and carbon located within the remediation compound The GWTS consists of a <br /> submersible pump pumping from MW-3 The pump extracts water from the monitoring well and <br /> pumps the water into a holding tank equipped with and LEL monitoring devise prior to direct <br /> discharge into the sanitary sewer Locations of the remediation compound, vapor probes and <br /> monitoring wells are shown along with other pertinate site features on the attached Site Plan <br /> (Figure 2) <br /> During this reporting period Horizon personal visited the site a minimum of two times a month <br /> to perform operation and maintenance and sampling of the systems Horizon personal were <br /> onsite April 4, 6, 12, 14, 20, and 24, May 1, 16, and 30, June 5, 12, and June 19 <br /> VES <br /> During this reporting period the VES operated for 62 days Samples collected on April 11 <br /> indicated that carbon breakthrough was occurring The system was shut down April 14 with a <br /> changeout of carbon and restart of the system occurring on April 20 Results of the June 5 <br /> sampling indicated that the carbon beds were again expended and subsequently the system was <br /> 5011 Golden Foothill Parkway Suite 7 • EI Dorado Hills CA 95762 • (916) 939-2170 • FAX (916)939-2172 <br /> PO Box 5283 • Bakersfield CA 93388 • (805) 589-8389 .
