COVEY AUTO EXPRESS,INC.
1444 EL PINAL DRIVE
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA 95205
Spill Response Plan
When a spill is detected, these steps should be followed to prevent injury and control the material from
entering the stormwater system. Remember Covey Auto Express, Inc., Inc. priorities: Protection of LIFE,
then the ENVIRONMENT, and finally our PROPERTY. It is Covey Auto Express, Inc., policy to
conduct its business in an environmentally responsible manner, in full compliance with applicable federal,
state and local environmental laws, and to continually improve its environmental performance. However,
Covey Auto Express, Inc., personnel should NEVER endanger their lives to protect the environment or
property.
1. Carefully identify the type of material leaking and/or spilled and determine the immediate safety
hazard(fire,explosion, contact or vapor).
2. The clean-up of any hazardous condition that presents an imminent safety threat to the public or
Facility personnel must not be attempted. Secure the scene and keep all personnel away from the
spill. Contact the Facility Response Coordinator immediately if you suspect a hazardous condition
exists and wait for outside assistance if you are unsure how containment should be safely
implemented. Only if it can be done safely, protect stormwater drains from contaminated runoff.
Never attempt to control a spill if you do not have the appropriate personal protective equipment.
Safety first!
3. If it is deemed safe, take immediate action to prevent further release or discharge of the substance
(i.e., protect the environment). Efforts should be made to limit the extent of the spill. This can be
accomplished by using absorption pads, booms, sand or soil. Notify the Facility Response
Coordinator immediately and keep any personnel not assisting with the cleanup away from the spill.
4. Hazardous materials spills that cannot be handled safely by Facility personnel should be immediately
referred to the Facility Response Coordinator. California Office of Emergency Services, (800)852-7550
d. San Joaquin County Certified Unified Program Agency', (209)486-3420
5.
