a. I !
G SCOPE OF WORK
The plan has been developed to investigate grfo'S
conditions at 2025 Weber Avenue, Stockton, Califor
"
SITE HISTORYit + MAR 2 C nl '
This site is owned by Teichert Landli company. TE1i91RW,e*te,j:eL1 LTH `
portion (2025 Weber Ave. ) is leased to London Produce aWRjpjfi§&1uEs f
which processes cucumbers into pickles, using large outdoor
pickling vats . A. Teichert & Sons leases the easterly portion
(103 N. "E" St . ) of; the property as a construction yard. This
plan addresses only1 the westerly portionilwhich is used for the
pickling operation with some references to the Monitor Wells in
the easterly portion.'
Teichert acquired the property about 1955 . The property
was used as a pickling plant for many years before that date .
Prior to a pickling'" operation, Standard Oil Company used the
westerly portion of' the property as a bulk oil/gasoline
marketing station. ' Approximate dates are unknown .
The general operating process, as described to me, is as
follows : +
At the end of each pickling process'; the brine, which l
generally contains only salt, is pumped from tank to tank for
brine recovery and to permit removal of 'sludge from the tank
bottom. The sludgeand waste are collected on site in tank
trucks for disposalj. The operator state's that no salt
contaminated water is intentionally permitted to discharge to
storm water . (
The pickles are removed from the vats by conveyor and final }
processing is completed indoors . During'' the "in-factory"
process, additionallibrines and spices are added.
Observations of ponded drainage water in the area have led
the landowner to investigate groundwatericonditions .
i
PROPOSED DRILLING j
This proposal 'is to drill two (2) monitor wells, MW-7 and {
MW-8 . Each well will be drilled using 10-inch, hollow-stem i
augars . Wells are planned to extend a minimum of 30 feet below
water surface . A seal, five feet thick, ,jwill be placed at
10 feet below wate rlsurface to permit multi-level water
! sampling. Four-inch PVC pipe, with 0 . 02' inch pre-slotted,
The east portion ,lof the property, approximately 600 feet east of the
pickle operation, has been drilled extensively in connection with a hydro-
carbon investigation.
t
 ii
