PHS/EHD has the following
comments for your consideration.
PHS/EHD agrees that a minimum of two additional monitoring wells are necessary and
that free product should be removed.
The workplan suggested that sampling occurs at 10 foot intervals. In order to better
characterize soil conditions PHS/EHD emphasizes that sampling should occur at a
minimum of 5 foot intervals and/or changes in lithology. Sample selection for laboratory
analysis should be based on field observations, using field instrumentation screening,
during drilling.
The workplan did not indicate that soil samples would undergo lead analysis. The
former underground storage tank is reported to have contained leaded gasoline;
therefore, please analyze samples for total Iead, using the W.E.T. when applicable.
The workplan included one permit application for the installation of two monitoring
wells. A total of two permit applications are required because placement of monitoring
wells involves two parcels of property; MW-4 is located on APN 047-119-02 and MW-5 is
located on APN 047-119-28. Enclosed is a copy of permit #92-0544 for the installation
of MW-4. Please submit an additional permit application for the installation of MW-5.
Please contact PHS/EHD 48 hours in advance, to schedule a site inspection.
A Division of San Joaquin County Hcalth Cafe Services 10
