Casey Foley January 2 , 1991 Page 2 On May. 23 ,. 1990 , Roger Foott Associates, Inc. was present at the site to observe removal of one waste oil tank and one leaded gasoline tank and to collect soil samples from beneath the tanks . On June 5 1990 , Roger Foott Associates , Inc. collected one sol ' sample from below a . former joint in the product dispen ing line.. The site is located on the southwest corner of East Walnut street and South Main Stree in Lodi , as indicated on the Site Vicinity Map (Plate 1) . The former underground storage tanks were located to the west of the site building. The approximate location of the tank cavity is shown on the Generalized Site Plan, Plate 2 . RAMCON, of West Sacramento, California conducted. the tank removal operations . No representative of the Lodi Fire Department was present during tank removal ; Ms . Casey Foley of the San Joaquin Local Health District (SJLHD) was present at the site on both dates during tank removal and inspection, loading of the tank for transport and soil sampling . RAMCON was responsible Eor permit acquisition, arranging for disposal of the tanks, and notification of the appropriate authorities. The tanks were removed from tie tank excavation using a crane and soil was excavated from he tank cavity with a backhoe . Soil sample S-8 . 5-1 colt cted from below the former waste oil tank at an approx 'mate depth of 8-1/2 feet below grade, or roughly 2 feet below- the base of and below the fill port of the former tank. The sample was collected by driving a clean brass sleeve .in o undisturbed native soil at the base of the excavation below the former tank using a hand-operated percussion sampler equipped with extender rods . The tank was spherical and 1,7 as of single-walled steel construction; no evidence of holes or unusual corrosion were observed on the outer surface of the tank.
