' QUARTERLY REPORT
July 1995
Art & Artists
204 East Lodi Avenue
Lodi, California
L0. INTRODUCTION
' In accordance with a request from Ms. Mary Lehr,Adianced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) has
prepared this Quarterly Report of field activities conducted at 204 East Lodi Avenue in Lodi,
California. Two air sparging wells were installed in May 1995; quarterly ground water monitoring
was performed in July 1995; and a soil vapor extraction system was installed in July 1995. The
location of the site is illustrated in Figure 1. A plan of the site is illustrated in Figure 2.
2.0. BACKGROUND
' 2.1. UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL
' One 550-gallon UST was removed from the site in January 1987 by Thorpe Oil, Inc. The UST
contained leaded gasoline, and was located inside the existing structure, near the building's southeast
corner(Figure 2). Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g), toluene and xylenes
were detected in a soil samples collected from beneath the UST at concentrations of 1,400 mg/kg,
270 mg/kg and 18 mg/kg, respectively. Subsequently, the San Joaquin County Public Health Services
' -Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) required further investigation at the site to determine,
if ground water had been impacted by the release.
2.2. SITE ASSESSMENT
' In July 1987, three ground water monitoring wells (MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3) were installed at the
site by Weiss Associates. Subsequently, wells MW-2 and MW-3 went "dry" because the water level
dropped below the screened intervals.
' To replace wells MW-2 and MW-3, two additional monitoring wells (MW-4 and MW-5) were
installed at the site by Geological Audit Services, Inc. (GeoAudit) in January 1992. In April 1993,
' three additional wells (MW-6, MW-7 and MW-8) were installed by GeoAudit to further define the
limits of impacted ground water. Well installation procedures and results were detailed in a Problem
Assessment Report dated January 1994, prepared by GeoAudit.
Analysis of soil samples collected during the installation of MW-I through MW-8 indicated that the
impacted soil was limited to the vicinity of the former UST.
1
