INTRODUCTION <br /> In accordance with a request from Mr. James DeNlera of Mullen, Sullivan & Newton, <br /> Advanced GeoErivironmental, Inc. (AGE) has prepared this Quarterly Report of ground <br /> water monitoring activities for the first cparter of 1995 at 204 East Lodi Avenue in Lodi, <br /> California (Figure 1 - Location Map). A more detailed neap, including the locatiorrof the <br /> monitoring wells, is depicted in Figure 2 - Site Plan. <br /> 2.0. BACKGROUND <br /> ' The presence of hydrocarbon release was detected following the removal of a single 550- <br /> gallon gasoline underground storage tank in 1957. Total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH-g) <br /> was detected at a concentration of 1,400 m2AR: toluene was detected at a concentration of <br /> 2i0 rnall:g: and xylenes were detected at 1S mg`kg in soil samples. Subsequently, the San <br /> Joaquin County Public Health Services - Environmental Health Dl%,ision (PI-iS/EI-ID) <br /> required furtherinvestigation at the site to ine if ground water Enid beers impacted <br /> by the release. <br /> Three soil boringswere drilled in July 1957 and completed as MW-1, 'MNV-2, and 1.1W-3 by <br /> Weiss Associates (NVA). The results of this investigation indicated that the impacted soil was <br /> limited to the vicinity of the former tank. Petroleum hydrocarbons %were detected in ground <br /> water samples from all three wells. The analytical results implied that gasoline migration <br /> through the soil was primarily downward to around water where it migrated laterally to the <br /> capillary fringe. Initially, the ground water gradient was east-northeast, probably in response <br /> ' to drawdownillLodi Municipal Well #1, wll,ich \.-as located approximately 350 feet east of <br /> the site. Lodi Mcnricipal Well #1 was abandoned ill 1991. <br /> ' In November 1991, Earth Systems Environmental (ESE) reported that water levels had <br /> dropped below the screened intervals ill MW-2 and MW-3 and that floating product was <br /> present ill MW-1. However, the product thickness in MW-1 was riot reported by ESE. The <br /> depth to water ill MW-1 in 1991 was 60.12 feet. <br /> In-January 1992, PHS/EHD required replacement of MW-2 and MW-3. it4onitoring wells <br /> -. <br /> )JW-4 and MW-5 were installed by Geological Audit Services Inc- (GeoAuclit) iia JiirteT <br /> 1992. No petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in any of the soil samples during drilling <br /> ' of those wells. However, low to moderate concentrations of hydrocarbons were detected in <br /> water samples from-both MW-4 and MW-5. .[Ocie to low water levels, none of the other <br /> wells could be sampled in June 1992. The prevailing ground water flow direction was to the <br /> southwest, in accord with the regional gradient. <br />
