VAPOR EXTRACTION AND TREATMENT SYS'T'EM
Designed as the optimum method for hydrocarbon contaminant extraction and disposal, the
Environmental Techniques Vapor Extraction and Treatment System is a unique compact and efficient
state-of-the-art tool for site cleanup. No air, water, or electricity is required at the site. `
The system employs combustion technology--utilizing an internal combustion engine with computer
controlled fuel feed, to convert recovered hydrocarbons to non-hazardous substances. In developing
' this concept, size and portability were considered key factors. The extraction system can be
accommodated in a minimal space, such as that available at service stations, allowing uninterrupted
retail operations. The straightforward vapor treatment/destruction process employed by this system is
' permitted by various regulatory agencies and is considered environmentally and economically sound.
Permits include: California South Coast Air Quality Management District General registration, Permit
to construct 1 operate various locations within SCAQMD, Fire Department City of Los Angeles General
' Approval and American Gas Association safety approval.
' ENHANCED VAPOR EXTRACTION - AIR SPARGING
Enhanced recovery is obtained by driving a second {injection} blower. This blower injects warm fresh
air into wells situated around the contaminated zone, aiding in the release of the VOCs. This
procedure adds oxygen and heat to the soil, enhancing bioremediation. Extraction flow is also
improved as the vacuum is augmented by the peripheral pressure.
' Air sparging may be used to remove VOCs from ground water. This procedure uses a second pump to
bubble fresh air through the hydrocarbon plume within the saturated zone. The bubbles travel upward
through the water, capturing VOCs which are drawn by the extraction pump and blown into the engine
for combustion.
v
FCM VIR IGNITION&FUELTS PROPANE
sov SHUTOFF
V PS WARM
P5 FILTER V FRESH
' S4 CARB.
