i
1 former groundwater interface (45 feet), were analyzed for TPH as gasoline and volatile
aromatics (BTE&X). A water sample was also collected from each well. No TPH or
BTE&X were detected in the soil or water samples. The results of this investigation defined
the limits of groundwater impact and confirmed that the extent of petroleum hydrocarbons
in soil had been delineated by previous stages of the investigation.
' 2.6 Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring
iQuarterly monitoring of groundwater at the site was initiated by GeoAudit in October 1992.
Three of the five wells were monitored at that time; MW-2 and MW-3 were still dry and
could not be sampled. Increases in the concentration of most constituents were noted in the
iOctober 1992 event.
' After installation, MW-6, MW-7 and MW-8 were added to the quarterly monitoring
program. MW-2 and MW-3 remained dry and the gradient continued to be to the southwest.
Wells at the site have been monitored five times since October 1992.
i2.7 Final Remedial Plan Preparation
' A Draft Final Remedial Plan (FRP) was prepared by GeoAudit in July 1994. The FRP
outlines soil and groundwater remediation for the site. A revised FRP is tentatively
scheduled to be completed in August 1994 with implementation beginning in September
1994.
' 3.0 PROCEDURES
3.1 Monitoring Well Sampling
' On June, 28, 1994, the water levels in each well (except MW-2) were measured relative to
the top of the casing using a Solinst water level meter (Table 1).
iAfter water levels were measured, a 2" submersible Grundfos pump was used to purge
standing water from MW-4, MW-5, MW-6 and MW-8. Because of poor recharge, a clean
iPVC bailer was used to surge and purge wells MW-1, MW-3 and MW-7.
Between 6 and 10 gallons of water were removed from MW-4, MW-5, MW-6 and MW-8 to
stabilize temperature, pH and conductivity. However, only 2 gallons of water could be
purged from MW-1 and less than one gallon could be removed from MW-3 and MW-7.
The purge water was stored in 55-gallon drums on-site. Field data sheets are included in
iAppendix A.
Water samples were collected using new disposable plastic bailers. The samples were
collected in 40-m1 EPA vials. However, MW-3 did not recharge and therefore, no sample
o.d A-*a.m.d,i.e.
AM Q NF.4 Q;L4/& t.47
