A slug test was performed on four of the monitoring wells in November 1993 to collect data <br /> on aquifer permeability and evaluate alternatives for groundwater remediation. The data <br /> indicate that aquifer characteristics vary considerably; hydraulic conductivity varies by an <br /> order of magnitude over a distance of 80 feet. An extraction well located near the center <br /> of the groundwater plume could reasonably be expected to have a transmissivity of 300-500 <br /> ftz/day and sustain a yield of several gallons per minute. Groundwater extraction is not a <br /> cost-effective method of remediation at this site. Air sparging appears to be the best <br /> alternative.
