FINDINGS <br /> 41 STRATIGRAPHY <br /> Predominantly clayey to silty sand was encountered from surface grade to approximately 16 feet <br /> below surface grade(bsg)and from 23 feet bsg to 36 feet bsg Silt was encountered from 36 feet bsg <br /> to 42 feet bsg and from 49 feet bsg to the bottom of the bonngs (60 feet bsg) Sandy clay and silty <br /> sand were encountered from 42 feet bsg to 49 feet bsg A clay layer was present from 27 feet bsg to <br />' 30 feet bsg in boring B9 Boring logs are included in Appendix A <br /> 1 42 LABORATORY AND FIELD EVIDENCE OF EAPACTED SOIL <br /> Organic vapors were detected in samples collected at depths of 45 and 50 feet in both boring B9 and <br />' B 10 at concentrations up to 112 pasts per million volatiles (ppmv) No organic vapors were detected <br /> in any other samples from either boring (Boring Logs, Appendix A) <br /> Six soil samples were analyzed for TPH-g and BTE&X TPH-g was detected in samples 139-45 and <br /> BIO-45 at concentrations of 12 pg/g (parts per million ppm) and 1,300 ppm, respectively <br /> Ethylbenzene and xylenes were detected in sample BIO-45 at concentrations of 0 32 ppm and 7 5 <br /> ppm, respectively No other petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in any of the soil samples <br /> analyzed Total lead was detected in sample BIO-40 at a concentration of 5 9 ppm Total lead was <br /> not detected in sample B9-40 Analytical results are summarized on Table 1 The laboratory reports <br /> (AAL Batch No 96-0315-014, 96-0517-020) and chain-of-custody forms are included in Appendix <br /> B <br /> 4TI <br /> 3 GROUND WATER ELEVATION AND FLOW DIRECTION <br /> The relative ground water elevation data is given in Table 2 Between February and April 1996, <br /> ground water elevation rose an average of 1 I feet Ground water mounding was observed during the <br /> April monitoring A lesser increase of ground water elevation was observed in MW-1, MW-3 and <br /> MW-4 during the April 1996 monitoring, corresponding to the greater increase observed in these <br /> wells during the previous quarter Relative ground water elevations for April 1996 are depicted in <br /> Figure 3 <br /> 1 4 4 LABORATORY ANALYSIS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES <br /> TPH-g was detected in the ground water sample collected from MW-I at a concentration of 670 <br /> parts per billion(ppb, reported as micrograms per liter) BTE&X were detected in the sample from <br />
