CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
In summary, the soil conditions examined near the proposed septic system drain field
and 100 percent replacement area appear to be suitable. Satisfactory soil percolation
rates of 4.6 minutes per inch were observed in both locations.
The depth of ground water based on recent, mapped aquifer levels is approximately 29
to 38 feet below the ground surface, depending on the season. The ground water flows
predominantly toward the north at a rate of approximately zero to seven feet per mile in
the vicinity of the Site.
Because of the percolation rate between 1.0 and 5.0 min/in encountered, the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department will require a 20-foot separation from
the bottom of the dispersal system to ground water. Based on the predicted depth to
ground water of 29 to 38 feet below, no modifications to standard septic systems should
be required.
No wells are currently located on the Site; no water sample was collected.
Based on the current project, the use of on-site septic tanks and drain field systems on
the Site is not expected to cause a buildup of nitrate in the aquifer above 6.7 mg/L-N.
This level falls well below the US EPA drinking water recommendation of 10 mg/L-N.
We believe the Site suitable for the use of standard septic systems utilizing leach lines.
Based on the satisfactory result of the nitrate loading calculation, no nitrate mitigation is
recommended.
LOGE 1846 Page 13
