Kennedy/Jenks Consultants
PRMLEGED & CONFIDENTIAL
3.0 RESULTS
The soil gas samples, a duplicate sample and afield blank sample were analyzed onsite
for the presence of HVOC constituents by EPA Method 8010. The results of analyses
performed on the duplicate gas sample collected from Sampling Point SP#7 at a depth of
25 feet bgs correlated with the analytical results of the original sample collected from the
same location and depth. The field blank showed no HVOC constituents above the
laboratory reporting limit of 1 ug/I of vapor. Table 1 summarizes the results of laboratory
analyses performed on gas samples collected from the sampling points at the Site. Copies
of the laboratory data sheets and chain of custody records are presented in Appendix A.
The concentrations of PCE in soil gas samples collected 5 feet bgs ranged from less than
the reporting limit of 1 ug/I at Sampling Point SP#1 to more than 22,700 ug/l at Sampling
Point SP#5. The concentrations of PCE in samples collected from 18.5 to 25 feet bgs
ranged from approximately 30 ug/I at Sampling point SP#1 to more than 53,000 ug/I at
Sampling Point SP#8. The approximate aerial extent of PCE in soil gas at a depths of
5 feet bgs and 18.5 to 25 feet bgs in the vicinity and immediately underlying the Beckman
Building are shown on Figures 4 and 5, respectively.
Additional detections of HVOCs in the soil gas samples collected on the Site include
detections of TCE, 1,1,1-trichloroethane (1,1,1-TCA), chloroform and cis-1,2-
dichloroethene (cis-1,2-DCE) in the gas sample obtained from 22 feet bgs at Sampling
Point SP#8, TCE and 1,1,1-TCA and cis-1,2-DCE in the deep gas sample and 1,1,1-TCA
in the shallow gas sample collected from Sampling Point SP#6 and TCE and 1,1,1-TCA in
the deep soil gas sample collected from Sampling Point SP#5 (Table 1). No other HVOC
constituents were detected in the gas samples collected from the Site.
4rg-3 9730 AM 4 952704.01
gajoosl!9951927:rt.Gt Uodi-rp coat
