Our comments on the documents are
provided below.
Phase 2 Groundwater Characterization Work Plan
We concur with work proposed the Phase 2 Groundwater Characterization Work Plan to install four
shallow monitoring wells, The boring for the downgradient well will be advanced to 90 feet below
ground surface for the collection of"grab"groundwater sample to evaluate VOC contamination in the
deeper groundwater zone.
The work plan also indicates that a fifth monitoring well will be installed at a yet-to-be-determined
location if the groundwater sample from downgradient well exceeds a PCE concentration of 20
micrograms per liter. We may also request another downgradient well if the hydrographs constructed
from the measured water levels in the new wells indicates that the downgradient well is not properly
positioned so as to be directly downgradient from the contaminant release area.
Upgradient Site Characterization Work Plan
The groundwater sample from boring C-52, adjacent to the City of Lodi Parks and Recreation Facility
(PRF), contained PCE at 1 micrograrr/liter. This data point is insufficient to demonstrate that there have
been contaminant releases from the PRF that may have an effect on Busy Bee's remedial efforts.
We have reviewed the investigation scope and methodologies presented in the work plan and concur that
California Environmental Protection Agency
d Recycled Paper
