One permit application is for eleven (11) borings located <br /> offsite in City of Lodi right-of-way and the other application is for four (4) onsite borings. The <br /> Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) approved the Workplan for this <br /> investigation by letter dated September 18, 2002 and copies of the approved Workplan and <br /> the RWQCB approval letter are provided as attachments to this letter. <br /> The proposed work, as described in the attached Workplan, consists of the advancement of <br /> a total of fifteen (15) borings. Eleven (11) of the borings are located offsite in City of Lodi <br /> right-of-way in the alley bounded by Elm Street to the north, Stockton Street to the east, <br /> West Pine Street to the south, and North Main Street to the west (see Workplan Figure 2). <br /> The four (4) proposed onsite borings are located on private property between the alley and <br /> Main Street to the west. An additional tentative offsite location is proposed in the sidewalk <br /> on the south side of Elm Street and will be advanced depending on the findings of onsite <br /> borings. An encroachment permit application has been submitted to Ms. Jeannie <br /> Matsumoto - Department of Public Works, City of Lodi for access to the city right-of-way <br /> locations. <br /> The drilling contractor will be Vironex, Inc. — San Leandro, California (C57 License No. <br /> 705927) and their Licensed Contractors Declaration (LCD) is enclosed. Underground <br /> Service Alert (U.S.A.) will be contacted to field locate utilities prior to commencing the field <br /> investigation. The borings will be advanced using hydraulically driven direct-push <br /> equipment. The diameter of the borings will be two (2) inches with a maximum depth of 50 <br /> feet below the surface. The borings will be backfilled to the ground surface using neat <br /> cement with approximately 5 percent bentonite powder. The cement will be pumped <br /> through the drill rods to ensure even distribution throughout the entire depth of each boring. <br /> The fieldwork is scheduled to begin on October 15, 2002 and is planned for completion on <br /> October 18, 2002.
