Soil samples were collected, described, and screened for the presence of organic
vapors with an FID. Lithoiogie logs for these borings are included as Appendix B.
€ = Selected soil samples were submitted to Pace Laboratories for analysis for total petroleum
! hydrocarbons(TPH) as gasoline by DHA-modified EPA Method 8015 and for benzene,
xylenes, and ethylbenzene(BTXE) by FPA Method 8020. The results of the laboratory analysis
indicate that no concentrations of hydrocarbon constituents greater than method detection limits
were found in any of the samples from the three borings (Table 1). Only one sample(MW6,50
y feet) contained organic vapors that were detected with the FID at the time of collection (see
boring logs,Appendix B)..
r :s
-_- The borings-were completed as monitoring wells by installing 0.010-inch-slot PVC casing and a
sand filter pack of#2/12 sand, At the recommendation of the San Joaquin Environmcntal Health
. .
District, thesaturated portion of the well casing was surged after placement of the sand pack and
f.
r . before installation of the Bentonite plug and surface seal: The wells were surged using a steel
*T
bailer on the winch of the drill rig for 10-15 minutes, and the depth to the top of she sand pack
-„ p
' was, continuously monitored. The sand pack settled 0.9 feet in MW7,0.4 feet in MW8,and 0.0
4, " feet in MW6 as a result of this surging. The height of the saturated filter pack was approximately .
r y 15 feet in all three wells. The total height of the sand filter pack was approximately 27 fee,in all
three wells. Well completion diagrams are included as part of the boring logs in Appendix B.
a t eaanlasa/nov/Ut t
y
T
s.
