-
mom
s
3 In February 1988, EA began sampling water from all of the moni-
toring wells on a quarterly basis (Table 1 ). E11 employed its
standard procedure for sampling monitoring wells at the site,
based on LUPT manual and RCRA guidelines. Eafore sampling, 3-5
casing volumes of water were purged from each well, using PVC
bailers. The equipment used in purging the wells was thoroughly
t-
cleaned with trisodium phosphate detergent and rinsed with tap
water and deionized water before use in each well, to prevent
cross-contamination. The chemical parameters of the water
removed from the .wells were monitored by periodically t«easuring
the temperature, pH, .and conductivity. When the chemical para-
meters
arameters stabilized (there was no measurable change in two consec-
utive bailer volumes) thesampled. i
i groundwater was.
i Samples of groundwater were collected with clean Teflon bailers.
i The bailers used to sample the
p groundwater were.--scrubbed in tri- _
sodium phosphate detergent and rinser, in tap water and then
eionized water: samples 2rom .the Teflon bailers were; poured
T into 40 .m1 .VOA .vials with Teflon-lined caps and:sealed. in such a
way that no bubbles. were ;forwed.
