(Wright) has prepared this report on behalf of City of Tracy.
(property owner) for the above referenced site. This work is in response to letters dated
September 29, 2001 and October 5, 2001 from the San Joaquin Public Health Services.
Environmental Health Division (PHS EHD) for additional site assessment. This work is being
done to address possible contaminants from an underground diesel fuel storage tank that was
formerly on the site and to check for presence of MTBE and related fuel oxygenates.
Background
One underground storage tank containing diesel fuel for a backup generator was removed from
the site in January 1998 under PHS EHD permits. Soil and groundwater samples collected as a
part of the tank removal revealed Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Diesel in soil at 11
milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) and 580 milligrams per liter (mg/1) in groundwater. On-the
basis of this data, PHS EHD requested additional site investigation. One surface diesel storage
tank is located adjacent to the former tank pit. The former tank pit is located within the
Wastewater plant operation between several large sludge drying ponds and wastewater storage of
treatment ponds.
Field Methods
Exploratory Borings
Four exploratory borings were drilled at the locations shown on Figure 1. Drilling permits were
secured from PHS EHD, and a utility clearance was performed prior to doing the fieldwork. The
boreholes were drilled with GeoProbe truck mounted drilling equipment. Boring locations were
adjusted in the field due the proximity of numerous subsurface utilities.
67 E. 10th Street ♦ .Tracy,CA 95376 Page 1 o 6
209.833.0758 '♦ Fax 209.832.5152
wright@inreach.com Lic. #651501 A-B HazMat i4M,
websit http://`honie.inreach.com/wright
