Table 2. Percolation Test Summary
Test No., Percolation Percolation Test Duration Comments
Date Tested Test Rate (see notes)
Depth (ft.) (minutes/inch)
P1-S Satisfactory
3/25/2016 3.30 14.7 4 hr.
Shallow Test perc. rate
P1-D Satisfactory
3/25/2016 11.50 <3.1 4 hr. 2
Deep Test perc. rate
Note: A satisfactory percolation rate for a "shallow"test is less than or equal to 60 minutes per inch. A satisfactory
percolation rate for a "deep" test is less than or equal to 30 minutes per inch. Only one test (shallow or
deep) per location is required to pass for the location to be considered acceptable.
1 Per San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, a rate between 5.0 and 30.0 min/in requires an
8' separation between the bottom of dispersal system and ground water, or mitigation by system design or
enhancement.
2 Per San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, a rate between 1.0 and 5.0 min/in requires a 20'
separation between the bottom of dispersal system and ground water, or mitigation by system design or
enhancement.
Discussion of Percolation Test Results
The soils within the sewage disposal area of the Site have demonstrated satisfactory
percolation rates for the use of standard septic systems in accordance with the
requirements of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department.
Because of the percolation rate between 1.0 and 5.0 encountered in the deep test hole,
the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department will require a 20-foot
separation from the bottom of the dispersal system to ground water (see Table 2).
Ground water is anticipated to be encountered approximately 47 to 49 feet below
ground surface at the Site; however, the 1983/1999 high ground-water level was 35 feet
below ground surface.
The Site is located within a "shallow only" septic zone per current San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department policy. The existing church septic system, installed
in 2014, utilizes a single leach line only. Future construction also should be restricted to
shallow systems.
Discussion of Septic System Sizing
Septic system construction utilizing leach lines or a filter bed should follow the San
Joaquin County On-Site Wastewater Treatment Systems Standards (2017) where
applicable. It is anticipated that over 300 feet of leach line will be added to the existing_
church system.
LOGE 1917 Page 8
