lierracon Soil Suitability / Nitrate Loading Study <br />Azevedo Property Acampo, CA <br />June 19, 2019 Terracon Project No. NA197009 <br />Based on a review of the topographic map (Section 1.1), there are no surface water sources near ' <br />the site. As the subject property is relatively flat, we do not foresee percolating effluent affecting <br />surface water resources. <br />2.4 Discussion of Nitrate Loading Results <br />2.4.1 Total Nitrate Impact <br />Based on the method and assumptions described, the result of the nitrate loading balance (11.0 <br />mg/L N) indicates that the development on the parcel may cause a buildup of nitrates in the aquifer <br />slightly above the MCL of 10 mg/L-N. <br />2.4.2 Methods of Mitigation <br />Based on the groundwater analytical results (Section 1.4.3) and anticipated depth to groundwater <br />(<130 feet bgs), nitrate impacts to groundwater are not anticipated; therefore, mitigation measures <br />appear unwarranted. <br />3.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br />The soils encountered on the site generally consisted of sandy clay to clayey sand. A satisfactory <br />percolation rate of 50 min/inch at 3.5 feet was obtained in the proposed leachfield. Hardpan is <br />anticipated in the upper five feet soil. The site and adjoining properties utilize up to two 25 foot <br />deep seepage pits at the end of each leachline. <br />Depth to groundwater is anticipated to be greater than 130 feet bgs. Two groundwater samples <br />collected from the onsite domestic well reported low levels of nitrate as N (2.4 mg/L) below the <br />MCL of 10 mg/L-N. DBCP was reported below laboratory detection limits (0.010 ug/L). The result <br />of the nitrate loading balance (11.0 mg/L-N) indicates that the proposed development may cause <br />a buildup of nitrates in the aquifer slightly above the MCL; however, based on the groundwater <br />analytical results and anticipated depth to groundwater, nitrate impacts to groundwater are not <br />anticipated; therefore, mitigation measures appear unwarranted. <br />In summary, the parcel appears suitable for the proposed development. The septic system design <br />should accommodate the peak flows and follow the San Joaquin County OWTS standards where <br />applicable. <br />Responsive Resourceful 1, Reliable 17
