In accordance with San Joaquin County Code, Section <br />8-1001, the permit expires if an inspection has not been APPROVED and recorded within 180 days. I_f your permit expires, it <br />must be renewed. <br />This section further states that an extension of time for 180 days may be considered if circumstances beyond the control of the <br />permittee have prevented action from being taken. If you feel an extension of time is warranted, you must submit a written request <br />to the Building Official, prior to expiration, stating your circumstances. Written requests may be mailed to the Community <br />Development Department, Permit Tracking Section, 1810 E. Hazelton Avenue, Stockton, CA 95205. No permit shall be extended <br />more than once. Please note, if your permit was previously extended for 180 days, you must obtain an APPROVED and recorded <br />inspection at this time or you will be required to pay fees to renew your building permit when.it expires. <br />Please call for an inspection if the work for your next required inspection is complete. The telephone number for the 24 hour <br />recorder is 468-3165. An APPROVED and recorded inspection will renew your permit for 180 days. If you allow your permit to <br />expire, you will be required to renew it per the San Joaquin County Code. The San Joaquin County Code requires the following: <br />Expiration. Every permit issued by the Building Official under the provisions of this code shall expire by limitation and <br />become null and void if the building or work authorized by such permit is not commenced within 180 days from the date of <br />such permit, or if the building or work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at any time after the work is <br />commenced for a period of 180 days. Work shall be considered abandoned if an inspection has not been recorded and <br />approved within 180 days. Before such work can be recommenced, a new permit shall be first obtained to do so, and the fee <br />therefore shall be one-half the amount required for a new permit for such work, provided no changes have been made or <br />will be made in the original plans and specifications for such work; and provided further that such suspension or <br />abandonment has not exceeded one year. In order to renew action on a permit after expiration, the permittee shall pay <br />a new full permit fee. <br />If you allow your permit to expire and do not renew it promptly, further enforcement <br />action may be taken which could result in the issuance of a citation.
