PUBLIC YEALT8 SERViCES
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION
Ernest M. Fujimoto, M.D., M.P.H., Acting Health Officer .. P
445 N. San Joaquin Street • P.O. Box 388 0 Stockton, CA 95201-0388
(209) 468-3420
ANDREW S HYDUKE p
P O BOX .923
STOCKTON CA 95207 AUG 2 2 199'`
i
RE : Valley Motors SITE CODE : 1166
800 E . Main St .
Stockton, CA 95202
Results of soil sampling from borings SB1 and SB2 from
a subsurface investigation in April 1994 indicate that
petroleum constituents exist at the highest seasonal
ground water depth of 30 feet below ground surface
recorded in Spring of 1986 .
Such evidence indicates that contaminated soils were in
contact with the shallow ground water beneath the site
and therefore PHS-EHD will require a ground water
investigation to be conducted.
Soil analyses from SB4 and SB5 provide evidence that
the soil in the southerly area of the tank pit has not
been impacted by the unauthorized release documented on
October 25 , 1990 . PHS-EHD considers the " zero" line
delineated to the south, in the area of SB4 and SB5 ,
but not defined in the other quadrants .
The presence of Stoddard Solvent in SB1=3 , SBI-5 ,
SB2-4 , and SB3 -3 will require further investigation and
a background check to verify the source of this
contaminate .
Further investigation- shall be proposed to deal with
the unresolved areas and a work plan shall be submitted
by November 30, 1994 that will address both the soil
and ground water issues .
A Di%ision of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
