R
t
ktq KLEINFELDER
An employee owned company
File No. 20744.G01
February 28, 2003
Mr. Ken Kjeldsen
Kjeldsen, Sinnock&Neudeck, Inc.
711 North Pershing Avenue
Stockton, CA 95201-0844
Subject: PERCOLATION TESTING (REVISED)
LINDBERG PROPERTY
950 NORTH FINE ROAD
LINDEN, CALIFORNIA
Dear Mr. Kjeldsen:
Kleinfelder is pleased to present the results of our percolation testing for a proposed parcel split
to be located at 950 North Fine Road in Linden, California. On a preliminary basis, we
understand the subject 8-acre project site will be divided into four parcels of 2 acres each. The
site is currently undeveloped farmland.
During the time of our investigation, groundwater was not encountered in any of our borings.
Lines of Equal Depth to Groundwater contour maps (Spring 1981 to Spring 1999) published in
groundwater reports by the San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District
show groundwater levels in the project area ranging from about 120 to 170 feet below ground
surface.
The subsurface conditions at the site were explored for our current study on August 23 and
September 3, 2002, by drilling percolation borings to depths of between about 10 and 25 feet
below site grade. Shallower percolation tests (approximately 3.5 feet in depth) were performed
during a previous investigation and failed. Reference is made to our earlier study dated June 16,
1987 (File No. 20-2925-01), attached. The borings for the current were drilled using a Simco
2400 truck-mounted drill rig equipped with 6-inch O.D. solid-stem auger. The approximate
percolation test locations for both the shallow failed percolation tests and our current percolation
tests are presented on the attached plate.
Based on our findings, the subsurface soils encountered consisted of surficial brown sandy silts
and clays underlain by interbedded layers of light brown to brown sandy silts and clays and silty
and clayey sands to the maximum depths explored. Based on blow count data, most of the upper
soils can be classified as "hardpan."
The percolation tests were performed on August 28 and September 9, 2002, in accordance with
accepted guidelines using clear potable water. The procedure calls for first placing about 2
20744.GOI/ST03R374 February 28,2003
©2003 Kleinfelder,Inc.
