CAMBRIA
SITE CONCEPTUAL MODEL
Cambria completed a site conceptual model for this site and included it as Appendix A
SITE INVESTIGATION WORK PLAN
Technical Rationale for Proposed Scope of Work
• The vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbons in groundwater has not been delineated
Previous investigation findings detected TPHg and benzene beneath the site in groundwater
as deep as 97 fbg
• The lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbons east of the existing USTs has not been
delineated
• Interim remediation has not been conducted at the site since a pilot SVE test during 1991 and
1992
Work Tasks
Permits- An appropriate permit for drilling will be obtained from SJCEHD Shell will also
obtain an access agreement for the property east of the subject site
Site Safety Plan Cambria will prepare a Site Safety Plan for field work
Utility Clearance- Cambria will mark proposed drilling locations and the locations will be
cleared through Underground Service Alert prior to drilling
Site Investigation- Two exploratory soil borings (MW-12 and MW-13) are proposed at the
locations shown on Figure 2 The borings will be drilled using hollow-stem auger equipment and
will be converted to groundwater monitoring wells Well MW-12 will be drilled in the strip mall
parking lot across Pacific Avenue from the subject site, northeast of the existing USTs, and well
MW-13 will be drilled east of the former USTs and dispensers
A Cambria geologist will supervise the drilling and describe encountered soils using the Unified
Soil Classification System and Munsell Soil Color Charts Soil samples from the bonngs will be
0854 4
