4
PROBLEM ASSESSMENT REPORT
6131 Pacific Ave , Stockton, CA
} Aegis Project No 90-020
1 Page 2
o Soil samples were recovered and classified according to the
Unified Soil Classification System (USCS) , and a log of each soil
boring was generated.
o Soils recovered from the borings were screened for the presence
of organic vapors with a photolonization detector (PID) .
o Drill cuttings were placed on and covered by visquene. A total of
four point samples were collected from the stockpiled soils in
brass tubes.
o Based on the results of classification and PID screening, one or
more soil samples from each boring was placed under a chain of
custody, secured in a sealed ice chest and submitted to a state-
certified-laboratory for analysis.
o Soil samples submitted for analysis were analyzed for benzene,
toluene, ethyl benzene, xylenes (BTEX) and petroleum hydrocarbons
volatile (PHV) .
o Three of the soil borings were converted to 4-inch diameter PVC
ground water monitoring wells. The remaining two soil borings
were completed as vapor extraction wells.
a On July 13 , 1994, the monitoring wells were developed by use of a
wire line 5 ' stainless steel bailor and surge block.
Approximately 45 gallons of water were removed from each
monitoring well . The development water was contained in 55--gallon
Department of Transportation (DOT) approved barrels.
o On July 23 , 1990, water level measurements and ground water
samples were collected from the existing ground water monitoring
wells. Ground water samples were submitted to a State of
California certified laboratory for analysis.
o Ground water samples submitted for analysis were analyzed for
benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, xylenes (BTEX) , petroleum
hydrocarbons volatile (PHV) , total and fecal coliform.
o On August 1, 1990, the well head elevations were surveyed and
referenced to u local wench mark by a California Licensed
Surveyor.
O During the week of August 15, 1990, the horizontal vapor
extraction piping system and two vapor extraction wells were
plumbed to the northeast corner of the site via subsurface 4"
diameter PVC piping.
