PHS/EHD has the following comments for your consideration.
The report included the results of the 1993 over excavation attempt. Residual soil
contamination is documented and the extent will require estimation and an evaluation of
the threat that the residual soil contamination will pose to groundwater.
Groundwater samples have not been collected from the monitoring wells since October
1992. In order to verify that groundwater has not been impacted, monitoring wells must
be sampled for a minimum of two quarters. Please schedule a groundwater sampling
event immediately.
Prior to evaluating the site for closure, a closure report prepared according to the
Appendix B of the Tri-Regional Guidelines should be submitted for PHS/EHD review.
If you have any comments or questions regarding this letter, please contact Mary Meays,
Senior REHS, of my staff at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Mary Meays, Senior REHS Diane M.
